Giving back to the communities we serve is a fundamental part of the Dallas County Dental Society’s (DCDS) mission. We strive to provide access to quality dental care to underserved populations, and our partnership with Attitudes & Attire™ is an integral part in helping us achieve this. Through our subsidiary charitable organization, Dallas County Dental Society Foundation (DCDSF), we’ve partnered with Attitudes & Attire™, a nonprofit organization that supports and elevates women on the path to self-sufficiency and success. Dozens of DCDS members have committed to providing dental services in conjunction with their dental program, Hopeful Smiles™. This week, we’re bringing you a two-part series focusing on success stories from our members’ participation with this program.
The Hopeful Smiles™ program is a branch of Attitudes & Attire™ that “provides much-needed dental care to women whose smiles have been damaged by poverty, neglect, violence and illness.” Dental work is performed by volunteer dental professionals, including DCDS members. One of our most recent success stories through this partnership was made possible by Dr. Jean Bainbridge, a past DCDS president.
After being selected for the program and having her dental work completed by Dr. Bainbridge, Casey was excited to show off her new and improved smile.
“It makes me feel so much better about myself,” said Casey. “Now I can go out with my new smile and get a better job to make a great life for my daughter and myself. I am so thankful for Hopeful Smiles and Dr. Bainbridge, and I appreciate this so much.”
Participating in the program and working so closely with Casey has given Dr. Bainbridge the opportunity to see how impactful and life-changing this partnership truly is.
“The Hopeful Smiles program is the final transforming step for many women who have risen above abuse, addiction or whatever had been controlling their lives,” said Bainbridge.
“Clients are always extremely appreciative, and we share many hugs and tears of joy. It’s an honor to have the opportunity to work with such a fantastic program.”
And the happy endings don’t end there. Stay tuned for part two in our series coming later this week.
