DCDS is pleased to provide dental assisting skills training through the DCDS Dental Assisting School. This course is a four (4) hour CERP-Certified course intended to enhance the clinical skills of licensed dental professionals. To register, please email Angela Bush, DCDS Dental Assisting School Program Director, at angela@dcds.org.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Hold a current licensed issued by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners as an RDA, RDH, DDS, or DMD.
  • Submit a completed application
  • Pay the seminar fee

SEMINAR (WORKSHOP) FEE:

The fee for the four (4) hour course is $75 which includes all necessary PPE, supplies, and supplemental materials.

CANCELLATION and REFUND POLICY:

  • The cancellation/refund deadline is a week (7 days) prior to the course.
  • A 20% administrative fee will be assessed for all cancellation requests on or prior to this date.
  • Since this is a limited attendance course, “no shows” will forfeit the full course fee.
  • No refunds will be granted after seven (7) days prior to the course.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

At the end of this workshop, students will be able to utilize various film holding devices to correctly position and obtain diagnostic quality radiographs during patient care.

STUDENTS WILL LEARN:

  • How to assemble film holding devices
  • How to position film holding devices using the paralleling technique
  • Learn about different film holding devices
  • Will learn the proper machine setting for intended exposure types (Posterior PA’s, Anterior PA’s, Bitewings)
  • The bisecting-the-angle technique
  • The correct positioning of patients for panoramic radiographs
  • Common patient hurdles and adaptation methods
  • Common positioning errors and how to correct
